This Sunday, the Los Angeles Film Festival (which actually starts tomorrow) will celebrate “Live Earth Day” by screening 50 short films as part of the SOS campaign behind the concert series.
“The selected shorts come from feature film directors, animators and documentarians among others, and include works from Madonna, Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck. The festival, which opens Thursday, will screen the films multiple times throughout the daylong event.”
Said Kevin Wall, Founder of SOS and Live Earth, “The goal of the SOS campaign and Live Earth concerts is to engage a global audience with solutions to the crisis of global warming,” said Wall. “Just like the 150 music artists who have stepped up to play the Live Earth concerts, the world filmmaking community has answered the SOS call in a big way. We are proud to present the SOS Short Films collection at the Los Angeles Film Festival and are thrilled to have such a powerful platform to share our message of urgency and hope.”
A free — and outdoors — screening of the shorts will take place at the Festival Promenade on Broxton Avenue at 8:30pm. A large array of environmental groups will also have booths on site to compliment the event. For more information, and a listing of the shorts to be, show please click here. Source |
